2-Touch Shooting Box

 

DRILL OBJECTIVE(S) DEVELOP 2-TOUCH SKILLS IN TIGHT SPACE IN ATTACKING ZONE, INCLUDING SHOT ON GOAL
PLAYERS 5+ PLAYERS
SPACE 23m TO GOAL
EQUIPMENT 10+ BALLS

EXPLANATION:

  • X1 passes the ball to X2. X1 follows pass to the next cone.
  • X2 receives open stick outside the cone and passes with second touch to X3.
  • X3 receives open stick outside the cone and passes with second touch to X4
  • X4 receives open stick and shoots on goal with second touch. 

COACHING POINTS:

  • Receiver signal clearly with open stick so passer  has a clear target.
  • Flat, accurate passes.
  • Quick footwork on reception to allow positive first touch in the direction of the next pass (or shot). 

EVALUATION:

  • Control with the first touch is critical to allow the second touch to be a good quality pass.
  • Each player should have the ball in his possession for a limited time. This will allow the drill to flow quickly and sharply.
  • Shoot for inside backboard on far side of goal, unless GK is off angle. 

VARIATIONS:

  • Switch sides to set up shot from Right side.
  • Change angle of cones to change passing angles and shooting angle (example: second diagram with diamond shape).
